Sigma Fabrications Expands Facilities
Sigma Fabrications has completed an extension of its facilities in Redditch.
By constructing a new mezzanine floor in one part of SSE Audio Group's HQ and warehouse, Sigma Fabrications has doubled its work space.
"We are using the new upstairs floorspace primarily as a clean working area for finishing and QC, leaving all the wood working and messy procedures on the ground floor" says Fabrications Manager, Steve Atkinson.
Production of Sigma Fabrications' familiar carpet-covered cases will continue to be made in the downstairs workshop, where CNC and other woodworking machines are installed.

Production and finishing of laminate flight cases has moved upstairs, where the area has been fitted out with efficient component stowage.
During construction of the new floor last month, a fire broke out in one of the ground floor rooms causing considerable damage.
"We were able to get all the essentials back in place very quickly. We re-wired the CNC machines, re-wired the air compressor and cleared all the damaged items, including the old spray booth with its external fan" said Steve.
All this was done after hours so production could continue.
New Welding Room"We've now painted the floors, walls and ceiling and have installed new replacement equipment including a new welding machine, a new bed saw and a pillar drill. All in all, I think we've made the best out of a bad situation after the fire, taking the opportunity to alter the layout and make the whole facility more productive" added Steve.
New Spray Booth
Within the completed fabrication area there are now also two spray booths a new router and a sander.
"I believe the new machines we've acquired are better quality - they are old 60's Wadkin machines, built when men were men and machines were cast out of solid steel" adds Steve.

Sigma Fabrications looks after all the fabricating and manufacturing requirements of SSE Audio Group. In addition Sigma Fabrications has a enviable list of clients, supplying custom cases, for example, to console manufacturers, bands and other hire companies.
