Revolutionary Case for Revolutionary Monitor

Sigma Fabrictations has designed and manufactured a flight case to house a pair of  Nexo 45N-12 Line Monitors.

The challenge was to design a case that was as flexible and easy to use as the monitor itself. Many design considerations were incorporated into the case from feedback from warehouse & touring staff.

High on the wish list was the need to create a case that could be packed and unpacked by just one person. This would mean a single crew member on site or in the warehouse can remove the case lid with ease and safely remove each of the monitors without assistance.

To achieve this, two hinged lids have been provided that effectively spit the case down the middle and fully open to enable the wedges to be removed with ease.

The lids remain fixed to the case to save time in load in / load out and to enable the case lid to be identified as having a specific wedge inside for a specific location. If lids and bases can be separated, it’s easy to put the wrong lid onto the base.

The design also means that the monitors can be fully audio tested without the need to remove them from the case. Connections are fully accessible when they are packed, saving substantial time when testing stock returning from tour and especially useful when monitors are used for short term rentals.

For SSE Hire’s own monitor inventory, each 45N-12 monitor can be bar code scanned in the case, making stock control a breeze and all dimensions of the case are truck pack friendly.

Inside the case, a 12mm ply wood ‘A’ section is lined with Ethafoam, cut to the specific dimensions of the 45N-12 wedges. The internal section provides convenient storage below for link cables and accessories. The Nexo logo is engraved on the section.

The case is finished in 12mm laminated ply wood, with 13mm aluminium location and double angle fixed with rivets. A total of ten snap-back handles are provided on each case for ease of handling, and each is engraved with the Nexo logo (or optionally your own company name). A tour label plate is provided on side of the lid.

The lid sections are secured to the base with non-sprung catches, plus a single sprung catch on the lid top. Four heavy duty casters are fixed to the base.
